 | The Waiter screamed "Sorry about your f#cking latte'" in the insolent customer's face as his manager arrived on the scene of what became, at that precise moment, The Waiter's very last shift in hospitality
But he refused to take his apron off. Instead he concentrated all his efforts into writing songs on his nylon string acoustic guitar in the ensuing period of unemployment - music with stark honesty and sweet melodies.
Paul Clissold has been performing his music under the guise of The Waiter since 2002. You'll find the apron-clad singer/songwriter playing anywhere between Darwin and Darlington, from acoustica nights, spoken word events or doing support at some of Sydney's nu-metal gigs - such is the diversity of his appeal. Just as in life, the songs represent moments of humour, tragedy, rage, love & the bizarre. Described as "hard rock on wood" and "progressive metal, stripped completely naked, torn from the amplifier and mated with poetry", The Waiter's music is perched somewhere between Cat Stevens & Tool. The Waiter has been featured on Fbi and has performed live on The Bridge with Vina V.
Recently joined by Kate 'The Dish Pig' Adams on cello & Dave 'The Cook' Smith on drums, the three-piece live act is aptly named 'The Waiter's Tantrum Fantasy'
