FBi MP3 - February 2006

 COLOURFAST

Just one year ago, three friends were faced with the prospect of writing music alone after their previous band dissolved. For a while, they each retreated to that perennial musical sanctuary their respective bedrooms to take stock and consider their future direction. When they emerged, with fresh songs and a fresh attitude, they found a collaboration that was better than ever before. Over the next few weeks, the guys worked together in any spare space they could find (out the back of Sash's Ascot Vale bakery was a favourite) to create the tracks that would propel them back on to the scene. After many late nights, ColourFast was born.
ColourFast's three songwriters Marcel Zimmet (keyboards), Sash Romensky (vocals, guitars), Andrew Millingen (bass) and newest member Anthony Argiro (drums) recorded their debut EP in two adrenaline-charged weeks earlier this year. You'll find ColourFast placed somewhere between The Dandy Warhols, Kasabian and Supergrass with an art-rock edge that puts them somewhere else altogether.
First single Ten Fifteen offers an effortlessly hip sound for sunny days or late-night dance-floors.

 THE RUSSIAN BRIDES

The Russian Brides formed one drunken evening in 2003 at Sydney's Hopetoun Hotel and have been playing around the traps with a spinal-tap-style revolving door of drummers ever since. In 2005 they released a preview CD 'The Blood Trilogy' - featuring three songs about vampires. FBi added all three songs to rotation and the 'brides were soon chosen as finalists in FBi's Kill Your Idols competition. Now 2006 will see the launch of the Russian Brides - Mach II. With Keegan on guitar and screaming duty, Aja on bass and girly vocals and awesome new drummer Harry on skins the russian brides are ready to take over the world!

The Russian Brides playing with The Rainbows, The Reservations and Misty Water on Thursday 9th February, 2006 at The Mandarin Club (cnr Pitt and Goulbourn St's, City) from 8pm - $8.

 JUNK CIRCUIT

Junk Circuit was formed in late 2004 by Albert Martinez, Sondrine Terez and Anthony Banister. Each has come from a diverse music background, Sondrine having played piano, guitar, synths & singing from an early age. She has played in several Brisbane bands until she moved to Sydney and joined Junk Circuit. Anthony has been writing and recording electronic music for many years and is still heavily involved with the electronic dance scene and underground experimental movement `clan analogue'. Albert has also been producing electronic music for quite some time. He has been the main force behind Sydney duo Neuropa since 1997 having released five well recieved albums to date through U.S. label A Different Drum.

The three are currently rehearsing material to be taken live in the next few months and look forward to the opportunity to present their sound to a receptive audience. Fans of bands such as Scissor Sisters, Garbage, Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Pulp, David Bowie, New Order and Depeche Mode will enjoy the Junk Circuit sound.
