HARUM CROSS
mp3: Summer Song
site: www.harumcross.com
|
In their first EP, Harum Cross step right up to the mike with the vibrancy of a band at the height of their powers. They play catchy AM rock with a twist, anchored in rhythm and blues, flavoured with funk, psychedelic, hip hop and other influences stretching back five decades and reaching out into the future.
The sound is both familiar and surprising - songs you almost know and wish you knew better. Their tunes combine balmy, playful grooves with skittering guitars, rhythms by turns sultry and locomotive and warm vocals you can wrap yourself up in. Listen and mentally you will be heading to the coast, windows down, beer in hand, elbow to the breeze, speakers cranking.
Live, the four-piece are just as appealing, playing an infectious, vigorous show and clearly loving what they're doing. Original songs - and the occasional worthy cover - pick you up and carry you along. This is music you can't help but dance to.
Tokic (Guitar, Bass, Backing Vocals) – Hard Rock, Punk & Funk
Jimmy (Lead Vocals, Guitar) – Blues & Psychadelia
Boothy (Bass, Guitar, Keys, Backing Vocals) – Jazz & Hip Hop
Ian (Drums, Percussion) – Rock & Funk

INANIMATE OPBJECTS
mp3: False Idols

|
With a very tight and professional sound, Wollongong band, 'Inanimate
Objects' use a beautifully blended combination of acoustically driven
attention-grabbing sounds to produce their cleverly layered original fusion
of funk-rock.
With a 3-track studio recorded EP currently available, the Inanimate
Objects have been refining their style over the past few years and are now
in the process of recording their debut album with producer Syd Green.
Steadily building up a respectable reputation, the band have recently won their way into the grand final of the Arrive Alive
Wollongong Uni band competition. Local Wollongong radio station Vox Fm have been great supporters; giving
the EP plenty of spins.
Influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Muse, iOTA, Mars Volta, the Dave
Matthews Band and Pearl Jam the Inanimate Objects mix together emotive and
frenetic guitar parts, slinky bass playing, heavy drumming and impressive
vocals. The Inanimate Objects perform an amazing live
set, working off each other as they play.
Pat Douglas - drums, percussion
Jono Hunt - guitar, melodica, percussion
Patrick Arnold - vocals, guitar, percussion
Ben Mudge - bass, percussion
