FOUR PLAY
mp3: You've Changed Your Tune
site: www.fourplay.com.au
|
FourPlay cut their name across the globe for being a unique musical
experience.
A string quartet that use vocals and effects pedals, performing with a
rock'n'roll ethos, they are credited for smashing the boundaries between
classical and contemporary music. They became known for covering bands like
The Beastie Boys, Metallica, Jeff Buckley and The Velvet Underground. They
were recognised for being staunchly independent, selling close to 15,000 CDs
through gigs and mail order. They self-produced two world tours and
performed on most television shows and radio stations of the day.
With a new member joining in 05 they started playing and writing their new
album...
Produced & mixed by Magoo (Regurgitator, Midnight Oil, TISM) and engineered
by Justin Tressider (george, Resin Dogs, Josh Abrahams), Now To The Future
shows FourPlay’s development as songwriters. There are eight original songs,
diverse in style, from pop to post-rock to… "Bollyrock". FourPlay also tip
their hat to The Strokes’ "Reptilia", Radiohead’s "2+2=5", Charles Mingus’
"Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" and Miles Davis’ classic "All Blues".

PANIKA
mp3: Bezerk
site: www.paynestrecords.com/panika.html
|
Panika is a Melbourne based electro-hip hopper who has spent the last year mac-top- DJing around country, and working with other like-minded hiphopheads to produce high energy live shows.
Her latest release, "genetically modified" is a melting pot of sizzling australian electro-hip hop lushness. Once again, never afraid to voice an opinion, Panika slides through issues of life, love, living and all that comes in between through a blend of hip hop, drum n bass and electro squelch beats. Recorded in a 1970s unit and released thru her own indie label, Payne Street Records, this album is a truly underground experience (now available in all good stores).

Jack Prest came to most peoples attention in 2001 as the Producer/DJ for
Third Estate. Jack co-produced the Triple J hit, It's Time and the

GLISTER
mp3: Binary Boy
site: www.glister.com.au
myspace: www.myspace.com/glister1
|
Glister are based in the Blue Mountains, and play hard-edged melodic
guitar-based music, all immersed in sparkling female vocals. The music
has been described as hypnotic rock / power-pop, and likened to
Blondie and Magic Dirt. The band carry influences from Smashing
Pumpkins, Blonde Redhead, The Superjesus, Lisa Loeb, Madder Rose, and
even Black Sabbath.
The new Binary Boy / Creatures demo was recorded in drummer Troy's
studio that he has just built. The tracks show the current direction
of the band, still torn between the magic of pop (shown on the track
Binary Boy) and the lure of the heavier/darker side of music
(Creatures).
"We wrote Binary Boy because our bass player is a mechatronic engineer
who prefers to work with robots more than he does humans."

Matt Dalton has been carving out a reputation in Australia as the shy man with a large voice, the dark soul with a pure heart, the complicated musician with a simple approach. This moody tunesmith delivers up ironic pop to moody grooves with an elegant post-punk flavour.

|
Millstone play a powerful yet emotive blend of guitar based rock, with
the lead vocals providing a harder edge that's been described by rock
mag Drum Media as "new wave meets Creed, Fuel et al".
The band made their debut at Sydney's landmark indie music venue, the
Annandale. They've since played in many venues throughout Sydney playing
alongside acts such as Thirsty Merc, Degrees K, Cinema and Midnight
Swim. They've also travelled further a field to Newcastle's Cambridge
Hotel where they shared the bill with Augie March, and two trips down to
Melbourne once at the 'mecca' of live band entertainment - The Esplanade
Hotel - where they played as part of the amazing St Kilda Festival /
Australian Music Week, and again for Aus Music week at The Green Room.
Millstone were selected to feature on the Grow Your Own 8 compilation

STONEPARADE
mp3: Revolution
site: www.stoneparade.com
myspace: www.myspace.com/stoneparade
|
STONE PARADE'S unique blend of infectious rock and
compelling lyrics reveals a band with a sincere
interest in the world around them. To put it simply,
its rock with a conscience.
The 5-piece outfit from Sydneys Northern Beaches has
enthralled audiences with their captivating shows
whilst building up a loyal fan base. STONE PARADE has
toured extensively around Australia, supporting major
US artists such as Maroon 5, Hoobastank and 3 Doors
Down, as well as multi-platinum Australian acts such
as INXS, Pete Murray, Killing Heidi, Jimmy Barnes, The
Whitlams and Diesel.
In 2005 STONE PARADE recorded 'IN A DAZE', the bands
most evocative and stirring work with renowned
producer Craig Porteils. Shortly after they embarked
on a trip to Los Angeles where the band caught the eye
of US manager Gary Avila (Papa Roach). Whilst in Los
Angeles, STONE PARADE headlined a sold out gig at The
Roxy and were offered the Hoobastank and 3 Doors Down
Australian tours. Later that year STONE PARADE won the
Coke Live n Local band competition, that saw them gain
national television exposure, radio play and the
chance to perform in front of over 9000 people at the
Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

SCOTT HACKETT
mp3: Psalm666
site: www.myspace.com/hotshackett
|
Hailing from the western suburbs of Sydney, Scott Hackett has been
playing guitar and writing songs for over three hours now. During
this time he has amassed a large catalogue of tunes in a variety
of styles including Pop, Blues, Folk, and Rock - even a little bit
of Hip Hop - and played a few shows in and around Sydney.
Once described as The Jerry Seinfeld of song writing, Scotts lyrics
have covered such topics as dating Goth chicks, the trials and
tribulations of a woman entering into marriage with a dolphin and
the loneliness of a personified sex toy. Scott would refute the
comparison to Seinfeld though, preferring to be compared to L. Ron
Hubbard.
Scott has supported the Fuji Collective and The Alphabetics
performing as a solo artist, and for a brief period last year co-
fronted a band called The Penetrators, whose main claim to fame was
their large phallic logo on a pink poster on the front of the
stage. He is now playing with a newly formed band called Behind
Chicken Wire, who will be starting to play live in the coming months.
